ABOUT ME

Sarah Khoury likes to think of herself as both a scientist and an artist. She has obtained a Masters of Science in Biotechnology from UT Health San Antonio and a Bachelors of Science in Integrative Biology from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, with both degrees focused in neuroscience. In undergrad she worked in the lab of Dr. Riccardo Mozzachiodi and Dr. Marcy Wainwright using electrophysiology to study how aversive stimuli affects plasticity in the model organism, Aplysia californica. In grad school she worked in the lab of Dr. James Lechleiter and studied how mitochondrial trifunctional protein reacts to stroke using confocal imaging and immunohistochemistry.
While pursuing her academic endeavors Sarah has also practiced as a professional photographer. Showing her work in both solo and group art exhibitions and publishing work. Her specialties include macro photography and portraiture. Her latest adventure is photographing the food that she and her lifelong lab partner, Daniel, create in the kitchen.
